The Onaway Area Chamber of Commerce Committees are the heart of our organization where our dedicated members put their talents and resources to work for the betterment of our members, the Chamber organization, and the Onaway Area.

Membership in any committee is voluntary and is open to any Chamber member business or their staff. A volunteer chairperson selected yearly by the Board of Directors leads each committee.

Subscribing to the saying 'You get out of it what you put into it', we invite you to contribute your time and talents to a Chamber Committee that best suits your skills and schedule. Events Committee:
The Onaway Area sponsors a number of events that contribute to the quality of life of our area residents and the expanding business environment. The Annual 4th of July Extravaganza is just one of those events.

The chamber assumes a leadership role, collaborating with other organizations and businesses to maintain and improve upon existing events that add to the quality of life of our community. Sponsorship of new events is always being considered. 

Membership/Member Appreciation team:
The Membership Committee is composed of individuals who are interested in helping the Chamber with retention and recruitment. The Appreciation team visits members of the Chamber and thanks them for their membership and to gather perspectives on the Chamber's performance and community needs. Each volunteer visits one to two members each month for about 15 minutes each

Community Pride:
This committee promotes a positive attitude about the Onaway Area through Community improvements, beautification and citizen pride projects. Stay tuned for details on meeting times and days.

Ambassadors Committee:
The members of this volunteer group help welcome new businesses to the Onaway Area with ribbon cutting ceremonies and socials. They also plan monthly Business After Hours events that are great networking opportunities for Chamber members. 

Web Site Task Force:
Website design experience is not necessary to participate on this committee. This group continually explores various ideas to enhance and upgrade features and content on the Chamber's web site, always marketing the Onaway Area to visitors, offering assistance and information to the local communities and helping Chamber businesses advertise on the world wide web, increasing their business presence.

As the New Board of Directors continues to organize and identify the needs of the business community and area residents, they will establish the committees necessary to support those needs. The Chamber will continue to do all it can to minimize time demands and insure volunteer time is productive for both the organization and the community.

MISSION STATEMENT:

To promote, enhance and contribute to the well-being of the business community while preserving the distinctive character, natural resources and heritage of the greater Onaway area as a basis of a healthy economy.
